Venting, a growing concern!

Vessels and barges move millions of tons of hydrocarbons around the globe, bringing valuable products to all of us.

When vessels arrive at a tank terminal, refinery or plant they need to have their storage tanks to product specification before loading. When tanks are out of specification, the hatches are very often opened and tanks are vented, releasing harmful VOC’s and HAP’s to the atmosphere.

In many areas of the world this is becoming a major environmental concern and SIS’s mobile vapor combustion services are the answer.

Ship and Barge degassing

To reduce emissions from venting vessel tanks, SIS can extract these vapors with a Zone – 0 Blower and combust them in our Flying combustor®. This brings tanks faster into specification, reduces down time and increases safety.

Degassing is also necessary prior to maintenance work on tanks of ships and barges. Proper degassing ensures that tanks are below LEL before work is commenced, creating a safer working environment for all involved.

  • Tank degassing
  • Shipping emissions
  • Boil of gas (BOG) emissions
  • Ship- , Barge-, Train- and Truck loading facilities
  • Marine loading
  • Vessel degassing
  • Ship and barge degassing
  • Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) backup
  • Dock Safety unit (DSU)
  • Emissions and odor control

Product change

For any ship or barge operator a product change can be challenging. Tanks have to be emptied and brought to the specifications of the new product. This is a time consuming effort, very often associated with high levels of emissions.

SIS can speed up this process by continuously extracting vapors while the vessel is changing product. During this process vapors are combusted in our Flying Combustor®, reducing down time and emissions.

Product change - Cryogenic products

Transporting cryogenic products and gases is a world on its own. When ship or barge operators have to execute a product change it is always a time consuming and costly operation.

Currently vessels are very often vented or flared off with small units present on the vessel. This can take up to several days. In the 2nd step product is used to cooldown the tanks to the specified temperature before loading.

This cooldown process is time consuming and very costly as product is used to cool down the tanks. During cool down, product evaporates, is flared off and waisted.

SIS can speed up this process significantly with our Flying Combustor® in combination with the use of nitrogen services. This reduces harmful emissions, vessel downtime, costs and consumption of product!!!!.

When vessels have to deal with waiting time, boil of gas (BOG) can become a challenge. Our Flying combustor® is perfectly set up for these situations as well.

Since our services are mobile and flexible, operations can be executed anywhere it suits you. In the worst case scenario, we can follow the ship or barge.
